Expressionism, Dadaism, "New Objectivity"

Thinking of the terminology of expression and Nihilism one would think its focus is about there souls at a rebellious state. In actuality, the Germans were indeed being rebellious but in a sense of wanted to create art that represents the true ideology of Germany. The country is going through a transformation of a sociological state to a more industrial and urban society. What artist viewed around them became an artistic viewpoint of what is soon to be portrayed in their art work. The realization of what is become of their society is soon expressed in their work. Pictures that were once focus on realism, have now become the grounds of an ugly portraits. Germans believe to capture the essence of what surrounds them and after Karl Marx theory of socialism it became the ideal nature of capturing the harsh reality of what is forming before their eyes.

Dadaism and its relation to Nihilism form an interesting concept when viewing the history of German artist. Looking at the various state of Nihilism being useless and senseless, and Dadaism being nonsense these artist took their artistic form to another level. Its not that the artwork have no purpose but the concept that lies behinds each portrait tells a important piece of history. It symbolizes the era in which a social and political change is taking place in Europe. Its after a world war and influencing the potential creation of a new war. The community is angry and rebellious and much is being showed throughout the artwork and social classes.
